The Stafford Squash Centre was built by its original owner Cyril Sorbello in 1969. The complex consisted of 6 squash courts and a managers residence.
A further 3 courts and a gym were later added in 1973. Cyril sold the centre in 1973 to Ernie Robbins, Wally Connell, Taffy Rhodes and Jimmy Clark.
Ernie and his wife Maureen became sole owners in 1996.
The Energy Store leased the gym and two of the courts from Ernie and Maureen, and was run as an independent business.
