It’s on again, the Stafford Squash Clubs’ infamous Doubles Tournament. This year it’s being held on Saturday 12th September, so a week later than last year. This is a highly popular event so don’t leave it to the last minute to entre. So grab a partner and sign up soon…

Tournament Guidelines

  1. Each match consists of 3 x 10 minute games
    • Warm Up: 5 minutes (2 ½ minutes per team)
    • 90 second rest between games.
  2. A whistle will be used to signify the start/finish of each time period.
  3. If the whistle sounds during a rally, stop playing, score prior to rally stands.
  4. If a game is tied when the whistle goes, score stands as is
  5. Players are required to mark/referee the match following theirs.
  6. Scoring is point-a-rally. An unlimited number of points may be played in the allotted time.
  7. Players are STRONGLY ADVISED to wear Squash Australia approved protective eyewear.
  8.  It is COMPULSORY for junior players to wear protective eyewear.
  9. All players MUST fill out an official entry form & pay entry fee before playing.

Serving Rules

The first server from the team serving first continues serving until a rally is lost. Then the serving team becomes the receiving team (“hand out”). The nominated first server from the other team now serves, and retains service until that team loses a rally. The process is then repeated for the second servers from each team.

Lets and Strokes

Strokes may be awarded ONLY when the striker is in front of the short line.

Competition Points

  1. Competition points will be awarded as follows:
    • 1 point per game won,
    • 1 bonus point for winning the match (I.e. 3 game to 0, 2 games to 1)
  2. An undefeated team will be declared the winner.
  3. In the event of a tie,
    • the winning team will be the winner of the match between those two teams;
    • or the most match points accrued (if more than two teams are tied).
